Network, Network, Network

Network, Network, Network

Effective networking is important for Actors.

Most of the networking events I’ve found designed for actors just turn out to be a bunch of actors standing around talking to a bunch of actors, and that’s what people think networking is. They’re wrong. These types of events are not going to get you anywhere.

Actor Rules

Actor Rules

A lot of the rules looming in front of Actors are just myths.

Here are a few you may have heard yourself:

  • You’re not supposed to do a drop-off.
  • You’re not supposed to come to someone’s office.
  • You can only do this if you have an agent.
  • If you didn’t go to a good acting school, forget it.
  • You’re too old.
  • You’re not in the unions.
  • You’ll never have a career.
  • You’re not supposed to call casting directors on the phone and pitch yourself.

An Actor's Headshot

How to Prepare for a great Headshot:

The most immediately visible piece of your packaged product is your headshot. This is your logo. And it’s the first thing casting directors see before deciding whether to book you. So, when planning your headshots, above all, prepare, prepare, prepare!

Actors You Gotta Get UNCOMFORTABLE

Actors You Gotta Get UNCOMFORTABLE

ACTORS GET UNCOMFORTABLE

The biggest mistake actor’s make is sitting around spending time on
Facebook waiting for the phone to ring. The phone is not going to ring just because you
feel good about yourself.

The Secret to Being a WORKING ACTOR

The Secret to Being a WORKING ACTOR

SALES to the ACTOR

That is the secret SELLING or as I like to say: CONSISTENT SALES to your CUSTOMER BASE. An Actors customer base are generally Casting Directors, Producers, Writers and Directors, these are the people Actor’s must focus on!!

An Actor Is an Entrepreneur

An Actor Is an Entrepreneur

Being an actor is analogous to being an entrepreneur.

Which means you’ll have to build your business from the ground up. Which means in the beginning you are your agent, manager, publicist and even attorney!!

Is Snail Mail Obsolete for the Actor?

Is Snail Mail Obsolete for the Actor?

No!!

Not for our client and coach Brian Majestic!! He wrote a letter over a year ago that just resulted in 5 recurring episodes of General Hospital. Or our friend Duane Whitaker that booked a straight to offer Guest Star on a FX show based on a letter he wrote over a year before!!

What Is the Best Way for Actors to Reach Buyers?

What Is the Best Way for Actors to Reach Buyers?

There are all kinds of customers for the actor…

It goes without saying casting directors are the first people to lend a hand when it comes to you getting paid work. They are the people who open the door for you to get in front of those who will pay you because this is how that side of the business works.

TOP TEN MIND F!**S OF ACTORS

TOP TEN MIND F!**S OF ACTORS

THERE ARE A MILLION WAYS TO GET THERE.

There’s always a different way to do something other than the one that’s not working for you.  There’s never just one way to do anything. There’s always an escape hatch, a different tunnel. Don’t stop looking. If you are doggedly determined because you’re unwilling to compromise on what you want your life to look like, then you will not stop.

What I Wasn't Told About Being an ACTOR

What I Wasn't Told About Being an ACTOR

Despite going to a big acting school, I wasn’t told when I graduated that I was now an entrepreneur and owner of a small business. I wasn’t told this because the acting school didn’t know it either. And when statistics say 80 percent of small businesses fail in the first two years, what were my chances going to be for success if I didn’t even know I had a business?

Is BRAND Important for the Actor?

Is BRAND Important for the Actor?

ABSOLUTELY

Branding is IMPERATIVE —If I am your customer (Casting director, Writer, Director or Producer), I need to know how to cast you in 30 seconds and with the speed of the world right now you MUST BE CLEAR, DIRECT and BRIEF.
